The Story: Eloxal aluminum ("electrolytic oxidation of aluminum") is an extremely lightweight but durable aluminum alloy commonly used in jewelry. It was made mostly from the 1940s throughout the 1960s and generally pieces made from it are marked "Germany" or "West Germany." It is extremely lightweight, and does not tarnish. Today, aluminum jewelry is sought by collectors who appreciate the beauty and history of this fascinating time in jewelry design.
