African Ghana Tribal Ashanti Baule Contemporary Brass Mask Face Pendant
Materials and Features:
Contemporary African brass mask with loop hole on the top, allowing it be hung or worn as a pendant on a necklace.
This was handcrafted in the lost wax cast brass tradition. Each piece is first formed in beeswax, then covered in hard clay. The clay pieces are heated in a handmade stone oven and the brass is poured into the void created by the beeswax. Once cooled the investment is removed, broken off, never able to be used again, to yield the object so cast. Every single object of this type, no matter how small, is made this same way, one by one, by hand.
