Other: Short for Swarovski America, Ltd., S.A.L. was the first name under which the famed Austrian crystal company began manufacturing their own jewelry. The "S.A.L" mark was used from 1977 to 1988, but proved to be unrecognizable to consumers; it was replaced with the trademark swan hallmark that continues to represent Swarovski jewelry today.

Since 1989, all genuine Swarovski products feature the Swarovski Swan logo. Pieces produced prior to this date have a different logo and in some cases, it may only be faintly visible or almost impossible to detect.
