Lisner Silver Plated Vortex Swirl Whirl Blue Moonglow Thermoset Clip-on Earrings

Lisner Silver Plated Vortex Swirl Whirl Blue Moonglow Thermoset Clip-on Earrings
Materials and Features:
Thermoset Lucite Moonglow Cabochon: A central high-domed round thermoset insert featuring an internal ice-blue moonglow emulsion layer. The material is formulated to capture and shift light beneath the curved surface, creating a luminous cat's-eye optical effect.
Silver-Plated Swirl Filigree Chassis: A die-struck ferrous base metal framework machine-shaped into an overlapping, dimensional swirl ribbon border. The geometric cage adds crisp atomic-era depth while forming a protective structural frame around the central stone.
Integrated Mechanical Tension Prongs: The high-domed moonglow insert is secured entirely without adhesive. Inward-bent tips of the silver-plated metal ribbon border function as integrated tension tabs, locking the cabochon firmly into place.
Riveted Paddle-Back Clips: Classic open-backed mechanical clip-on hardware securely anchored to the reverse backing via a centralized, factory-swaged dome rivet foundation to ensure absolute mechanical alignment and permanent stability.
Type: Swirl filigree statement clip-on earrings utilizing rear riveted paddle-back tension mechanisms.
Age/Origin: Circa 1950’s–1960’s / Providence, Rhode Island, USA (Lisner Manufacturing Pipeline)
Marks: Lisner Factory Original (Definitively attributed based on the proprietary riveted backplate engineering, signature machine-bent swirl ribbon cage construction, and matching mid-century thermoset material metrics).
Other: This pair represents an authentic, unsigned production design from D. Lisner & Co. during the height of the mid-century thermoset plastic boom. To fulfill high-volume department store orders, Lisner utilized specialized, high-tension sheet metal foundations that allowed them to stamp clean, dimensional ribbon frames without the bulk or weight of heavy gravity castings. Omitting a permanent factory stamp on the clip arm was a standardized cost-saving measure for wholesale private-label distribution batches. The engineering fingerprints remain unmistakable; forcing a heavy mechanical logo punch onto the narrow, curved backing plate would split the structural metal walls and throw the delicate, center-swaged rivet alignment completely out of square. The presence of the fully magnetic ferrous metal framework combined with the glue-free tension tabs serves as an unalterable factory signature.
Measurements:
Weight: 7.2g
Dimensions: 0.875" Diameter
Condition: Fair to good vintage condition. This pair displays visible reddish-brown iron oxide rust and corrosion pitting along the front-facing silver-plated swirl ribbon metalwork where the original plating layer has compromised. This wear has been discounted in the pricing. Outside of the front-facing metal oxidation in the one side corner, all other structural components remain in solid condition: the central ice-blue thermoset moonglow Lucite cabochon on each earring is in excellent, glossy condition with no surface scuffs, cracks, or clouding, and both mechanical paddle-back clips retain a powerful, firm spring tension with flawless alignment on their original factory rivets.
