Throughout the late 1950s, the company distributed millions of seasonal fashion chokers intentionally un-stamped on branded paper or cardboard counter hanging cards to minimize domestic tool-and-die costs and speed up assembly lines. Omitting a permanent stamped trademark on the reverse served an explicit structural purpose; forcing a heavy steel mechanical hallmark punch into the narrow border walls of these open-backed cast panels would warp the delicate hinge alignment loops and throw the flat, fluid drape of the linked neck collar completely out of square.
